Se a leitura do "good book" é responsável pela morte de tantos, é mais do que justo que a sua elaboração seja responsável pela morte dos que queriam espalhar a "verdade".
Será talvez este um belo exemplo de justiça poética?

"Medieval bones from six different Danish cemeteries reveal that monks who wrote Biblical texts and other religious materials may have been exposed to toxic mercury, which was used to formulate just one of their ink colors: red.
The study, which will be published in the August issue of the Journal of Archaeological Science, also describes a previously undocumented disease, called FOS, which was like leprosy and caused skull lesions. Additionally, the researchers found that mercury-containing medicine had been administered to 79 percent of the interred individuals with leprosy and 35 percent with syphilis.
Since the monks, who were buried in the cloister walk of the Cistercian Abbey at Øm, did not have these diseases but contained mercury in their bones, scientists believe the monks were either contaminated while preparing and administering medicines, or while writing the artistic letters of incunabula, or pre-1500 A.D. books."

A Signature of the Creator
Gosto de ver estes tipos.
Mas é preciso ter cuidado, arranjei uma data de vídeos destes a um colega e ele levou os a sério.
Eu a modos que pensei que ele estava a gozar comigo mas não estava.
Só por curiosidade, o pai do idiota responsável por este vídeo está preso por fuga aos impostos.
O argumento dele é que não era obrigado a pagar impostos porque esses mesmos impostos pertencem a deus (presumo que a divindade do "good book") e não ao governo Americano.

Christians are often confronted with the challenge of proving the existence of God. And yet He can be seen throughout the marvels of His creation. Romans 1:20 tells us that "the invisible things of him [God] from the creation of the world are clearly seen...by the things that are made." So can we really see an invisible God simply by looking around us?
The cuttlefish is a cephalopod which operates with such sophisticated technology that scientists today are struggling to understand just how this creature came to be. This creature is a perfect example of God's magnificent design, demonstrating stealth tactics, among other features, which include not only changing colors, but also texture, to blend in perfectly with its surroundings. If it is perched atop a barnacle-covered rock, it can conform to mirror the rock as well as the barnacles. But God's amazing creation goes further. The cuttlefish can perform this feat in a split second, and never even look at itself to examine its disguise. He does it by instinct. God is showing forth His glory through His creation.
If we see a painting, we understand there is a painter. Though we may not see him, we know he exists. If we see a complex space shuttle, we understand that this did not come about by accident. We understand that complexity demands an intelligent designer. The amazing thing is that this Designer has told us in His Word to examine His creation in order to "see" Him. And when we take a look, even at a humble sea creature such as the cuttlefish, we are amazed at the complexity and genius of His creation. In fact, when we look at something as amazing as the cuttlefish, in a way, we see God. And the last part of Romans 1:20 tells us that when we look at His creation and see Him, we are "without excuse" for not believing in a Creator."

God did It!!!
"Advances in science and cancer treatment emerged, not from science in isolation, but from a culture that made science possible and that directed the fruits of scientific work toward good and compassionate goals. The culture from which science has emerged is Judeo-Christian culture, and modern science has arisen only in Judeo-Christian culture. Why has science been so closely linked to this specific culture?
The scientific investigation of nature using the scientific method depends on the metaphysical view that nature is rational and that natural laws can be discovered and used by human beings. The Judeo-Christian understanding of God and of man’s relationship to God accords with these preconditions for successful science. The application of science to care for the sick presupposes the view that we have an ethical obligation to help the weakest among us. The atheist view of metaphysics — that the universe has no purpose and no designer and no transcendent ethical code — provides no impetus to scientific inquiry or to the compassionate application of scientific knowledge. Modern science arose in Judeo-Christian culture — a milieu of faith and prayer. It arose from Judeo-Christian culture — and nowhere else — for a reason.
Medical science is particularly in debt to a culture of piety.
There is no doubt that the simple tasks involved in the care for the sick — provision of food, water, shelter, and comfort — played a major role in the history of medicine. Even in the modern era of remarkable scientific achievements, such care is still essential for good medical outcomes, as any nurse or practicing doctor will attest. People are healed by the culture of medicine, not just by drugs or surgery, and that culture includes cutting edge science and basic humanitarian care. Both have deep roots in Western Judeo-Christian culture — a culture of faith and prayer."

Estes evangélicos gostam de ser selectivos nos textos que devem ser seguidos, curioso é que são eles que decidem quais os que devem ser seguidos.
E eu a pensar que a palavra da divindade do "good Book" era apenas uma, sem margem para mais interpretações.

A top U.S. evangelical leader is accusing Sen. Barack Obama of deliberately distorting the Bible and taking a "fruitcake interpretation" of the U.S. Constitution.
In comments to be aired on his radio show Tuesday, Focus on the Family founder James Dobson criticizes the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee for comments he made in a June 2006 speech to the liberal Christian group Call to Renewal.
In the speech, Obama suggests it would be impractical to govern based solely on the word of the Bible, noting some passages suggest slavery is permissible and eating shellfish is disgraceful.
"Which passages of scripture should guide our public policy?" Obama asks in the speech. "Should we go with Leviticus, which suggests slavery is OK and that eating shellfish is an abomination? Or we could go with Deuteronomy, which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith? Or should we just stick to the Sermon on the Mount?
"So before we get carried away, let's read our Bible now," Obama also said to cheers. "Folks haven't been reading their Bible."
He also calls Jesus' Sermon on the Mount "a passage that is so radical that it's doubtful that our Defense Department would survive its application."
In the comments to be aired later Tuesday, Dobson said Obama should not be referencing antiquated dietary codes and passages from the Old Testament that are no longer relevant to the teachings of the New Testament.

"On the morning of June 22, 1633, Galileo, dressed in the white shirt of penitence, entered the large hall of the Inquisition building. He knelt and listened to his sentence: "Whereas you, Galileo, the son of the late Vincenzo Galilei, Florentine, aged seventy years, were in the year 1615 denounced to this Holy Office for holding as true the false doctrine....." The reading continued for seventeen paragraphs:
And, so that you will be more cautious in future, and an example for others to abstain from delinquencies of this sort, we order that the book Dialogue of Galileo Galilei be prohibited by public edict. We condemn you to formal imprisonment in this Holy Office at our pleasure.
As a salutary penance we impose on you to recite the seven penitential psalms once a week for the next three years. And we reserve to ourselves the power of moderating, commuting, or taking off, the whole or part of the said penalties and penances.
This we say, pronounce, sentence, declare, order and reserve by this or any other better manner or form that we reasonably can or shall think of. So we the undersigned Cardinals pronounce.
Seven of the ten cardinals signed the sentence.
Following the reading of the sentence, Galileo knelt to recite his abjuration:
....[D]esiring to remove from the minds of your Eminences, and of all faithful Christians, this strong suspicion, reasonably conceived against me, with sincere heart and unfeigned faith I abjure, curse, and detest the aforesaid errors and heresies, and generally every other error and sect whatsoever contrary to the said Holy Church; and I swear that in the future I will never again say or assert, verbally or in writing, anything that might furnish occasion for a similar suspicion regarding me....
I, the said Galileo Galilei, have abjured, sworn, promised, and bound myself as above; and in witness of the truth thereof I have with my own hand subscribed the present document of my abjuration, and recited it word for word at Rome, in the Convent of Minerva, this twenty-second day of June, 1633.

Two days later, Galileo was released to the custody of the Florentine ambassador. Niccolini described his charge as "extremely downcast over his punishment." After six days in the custody of Niccolini, custody of Galileo transferred to Archbishop Piccolomini in Sienna. In late 1633, Galileo received permission to move into his own small farmhouse in Arcetri, where he would grow blind and, in 1641, die."

Mas 359 anos depois, mais concretamente a 31 de Outubro de 1992, a ratazana chefe na altura "reabilitou" Galileo Galilei.
"In 1633, the Inquisition of the Roman Catholic Church forced Galileo Galilei, one of the founders of modern science, to recant his theory that the Earth moves around the Sun. Under threat of torture, Galileo - seen above facing his inquisitors - recanted. But as he left the courtroom, he is said to have muttered, 'all the same, it moves'.
Last week, 359 years later, the Church finally agreed. At a ceremony in Rome, before the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, Pope John Paul II officially declared that Galileo was right. The formal rehabilitation was based on the findings of a committee of the Academy the Pope set up in 1979, soon after taking office. The committee decided the Inquisition had acted in good faith, but was wrong."

O que é que os ateus ensinam às crianças?
Pois é, que é que um ateu pode ensinar a uma criança?
Lamentavelmente, as cadeiras que me faltam e o estágio estão a ocupar me o tempo.
Mas podemos encontrar na blogosfera ideias que podem resultar em interessantes trocas de ideias, como por exemplo o post que encontrei no blog O Calhamaço dos Embustes!…
Depois de o ler, verifiquei que concordo inteiramente com a sua escolha de palavras.
Como tal, deixo aqui a transcrição do post, e convido vos dar uma vista de olhos ao blog.
Mas acho que prefiro usar o termo "good book" a "calhamaço dos embustes".
Sobre deus: O que é que os ateus ensinam às crianças?...
"Devemos ensinar às crianças que provavelmente quase todas as religiões têm a mesma origem: a ignorância, o medo e as pressões sociais. Que deus foi inventado e que esse deus inventado é um deus monstruoso, que se impõe pelo terror, prometendo a morte, seguida do sofrimento eterno, a todos os que não se curvarem às suas ordens. Que ele é fruto da superstição, e que jamais uma única evidência da sua existência foi apresentada por aqueles que dizem nele acreditar. Que devemos nos libertar dessa ideia, de que ele existe, para que nos possamos sentir verdadeiramente livres e fortes o suficiente para enfrentarmos os desafios da vida.
Devemos ensinar às crianças que a ciência destronou esse deus cristão tão cruel, inventado há milénios atrás por indivíduos que faziam da ignorância e do medo um modo de vida. Devemos ensinar-lhes que nenhum pecado é tão terrível ao ponto de fazer com que um pecador seja punido por toda a eternidade nas labaredas do inferno.
Devemos dizer às crianças que os líderes religiosos jamais deverão ser perdoados pelos crimes que cometeram em nome de Deus. Que jamais poderão justificar as torturas, a destruição das famílias, e as incontáveis mortes que pesam sobre os seus ombros. Que padres e pastores são desonestos porque ensinam mentiras e levam dinheiro por isso.
Devemos dizer às crianças que a mentira e a hipocrisia são os dois pilares que dão sustentação ao cristianismo. Que tanto a mentira como a hipocrisia, aliadas ao medo, manterão as mentes das multidões de infelizes totalmente anestesiadas, prisioneiras nos calabouços celestiais, submetidas ao terror divino, para que ninguém questione, para que ninguém investigue, para que ninguém progrida, a não ser os "mercadores da fé", que escolheram como ganha-pão a exploração da ignorância e da burrice alheias.
Devemos dizer às crianças que as religiões são contra o progresso, contra o avanço da ciência, contra o divertimento, contra os prazeres da carne, contra o orgasmo, contra o sexo sem fins reprodutivos, contra o uso de preservativos nas relações sexuais, contra as festas pagãs, contra a riqueza obtida com o trabalho árduo, contra a música e a literatura de vanguarda, enfim, contra tudo que possa fazer a vida valer a pena ser vivida.
Devemos dizer às crianças que "verdades" mentirosas não podem ser ensinadas como sendo sagradas. Que nada existe de mais sagrado para o ser humano do que a liberdade de expressar seu pensamento honestamente. Que todo aquele que, em nome de um Deus, ou de uma religião qualquer, reprime a livre manifestação de pensamento, não passa de um carcereiro, com procuração "divina", que deve ser declarado inimigo da humanidade.
Devemos dizer às crianças que não vale a pena morrer por aqueles que ainda vão nascer. Que os inocentes não devem ser punidos pelos culpados. Que sacrificar a vida material por uma vida "espiritual" depois da morte – facto que nunca foi comprovado -- é uma enorme idiotice. Que os seres humanos não devem amar seus inimigos e odiar seus familiares, como a bíblia ensina. Que o amor por seres humanos é real e o amor por fantasmas que povoam os céus é a mais deslavada das mentiras.
Devemos dizer às crianças que precisamos ser bons e honestos, não por temor a deuses inventados, mas porque a bondade e a honestidade são os caminhos que nos levam à paz interior. Devemos dizer às crianças que não existe nenhuma revelação divina pela qual valha a pena renunciar à vida aqui na Terra. Que é da natureza que vem todas as revelações que precisamos e que basta entendê-la para que possamos entrar em harmonia com o universo que nos rodeia.
Devemos dizer às crianças que investigar não é pecado. Que aceitar promessas de vida eterna em troca de crença em factos absurdos que não se apoiam em evidências é pura insanidade. Que a credulidade não é uma virtude, e sim um defeito. Que a investigação, a razão, a lógica e o raciocínio é tudo que temos para nos guiar na nossa passagem pela vida.
Devemos dizer às crianças que nada pode ser mais sagrado que o amor aos nossos familiares, que o amor aos animais, que o amor às plantas, que o amor à vida. Que é impossível para um homem inteligente e sensível amar um ser sobrenatural e fantasmagórico que só existe dentro de cabeças cujos cérebros foram cauterizados por uma lavagem cerebral feita na infância. Que é impossível amar incondicionalmente, pois o inconsciente não pode ser comandado pelo consciente. Que só podemos e devemos amar quem merece o nosso amor. Devemos dizer-lhes também, que amar o inimigo é uma traição aos nossos amigos.
Devemos dizer às crianças que, ao contrário do que está na Bíblia, a mulher não é inferior ao homem. Devemos dizer-lhes que não foi Deus quem fez o homem à sua imagem e semelhança, e sim o contrário, e que por isso mesmo esse deus inventado é tão egocêntrico, colérico e vingativo. Que o amor do melhor dos santos cristãos jamais poderá ser comparado ao amor da mais insignificante das mães.
Devemos dizer às crianças que a felicidade não é menor pelo facto de sabermos que um dia iremos morrer. Que, até que se prove o contrário, a morte é uma barreira intransponível e não uma passagem para "outra vida". Que ela é o descanso eterno, o fim do sofrimento, o término de toda angústia e de toda agonia, enfim, uma consequência inevitável da vida. Que nunca se apresentou uma só evidência de que exista algo mais depois dela.
Devemos dizer às crianças que, por pior que seja a verdade, é melhor viver dentro dela, do que enganar-se a si mesmo, fingindo aceitar uma mentira, apenas para encobrir a própria ignorância. Que não se deve aceitar explicações mais absurdas do que o que se pretende explicar, visando única e exclusivamente acalmar a mente perturbada que não consegue respostas para o problema existencial.
Devemos dizer às crianças que devem lutar contra a mentira embutida nas mensagens religiosas que prometem o paraíso. Que é desonesto oferecer uma recompensa em troca de uma crença que nós não temos o direito de investigar ou testar por nós mesmos. Que devem rejeitar, incondicionalmente, um deus que faz chantagem com as suas criaturas, ameaçando-as com as mais terríveis punições.
Finalmente, devemos alertar as crianças para que não dêem jamais ouvidos às declarações atribuídas a testemunhas que já morreram, foram enterradas e se transformaram em pó há séculos e séculos atrás, pois a simples declaração de uma pessoa não serve como evidência incontestável, principalmente se ela estiver morta. Que o cadáver de um ancestral desconhecido não pode ter mais credibilidade do que um facto comprovado. Que eles devem ficar longe de homens, e mulheres, que se dizem cheios do "espírito santo", pois eles são os inimigos da ciência, já que são contrários à investigação e à livre manifestação do pensamento. Que devem desprezar todos aqueles que fazem declarações estúpidas, capazes de contradizer a lógica mais elementar.
Dizendo tudo isso poderemos ter certeza de que as nossas crianças ficarão mais livres dessa enorme mentira chamada Deus...

Lamentavelmente, as cadeiras que me faltam e o estágio estão a ocupar me o tempo.
Mas podemos encontrar na blogosfera ideias que podem resultar em interessantes trocas de ideias, como por exemplo o post que encontrei no blog O Calhamaço dos Embustes!…
Depois de o ler, verifiquei que concordo inteiramente com a sua escolha de palavras.
Como tal, deixo aqui a transcrição do post, e convido vos dar uma vista de olhos ao blog.
Mas acho que prefiro usar o termo "good book" a "calhamaço dos embustes".
Sobre deus: O que é que os ateus ensinam às crianças?...
"Devemos ensinar às crianças que provavelmente quase todas as religiões têm a mesma origem: a ignorância, o medo e as pressões sociais. Que deus foi inventado e que esse deus inventado é um deus monstruoso, que se impõe pelo terror, prometendo a morte, seguida do sofrimento eterno, a todos os que não se curvarem às suas ordens. Que ele é fruto da superstição, e que jamais uma única evidência da sua existência foi apresentada por aqueles que dizem nele acreditar. Que devemos nos libertar dessa ideia, de que ele existe, para que nos possamos sentir verdadeiramente livres e fortes o suficiente para enfrentarmos os desafios da vida.
Devemos ensinar às crianças que a ciência destronou esse deus cristão tão cruel, inventado há milénios atrás por indivíduos que faziam da ignorância e do medo um modo de vida. Devemos ensinar-lhes que nenhum pecado é tão terrível ao ponto de fazer com que um pecador seja punido por toda a eternidade nas labaredas do inferno.
Devemos dizer às crianças que os líderes religiosos jamais deverão ser perdoados pelos crimes que cometeram em nome de Deus. Que jamais poderão justificar as torturas, a destruição das famílias, e as incontáveis mortes que pesam sobre os seus ombros. Que padres e pastores são desonestos porque ensinam mentiras e levam dinheiro por isso.
Devemos dizer às crianças que a mentira e a hipocrisia são os dois pilares que dão sustentação ao cristianismo. Que tanto a mentira como a hipocrisia, aliadas ao medo, manterão as mentes das multidões de infelizes totalmente anestesiadas, prisioneiras nos calabouços celestiais, submetidas ao terror divino, para que ninguém questione, para que ninguém investigue, para que ninguém progrida, a não ser os "mercadores da fé", que escolheram como ganha-pão a exploração da ignorância e da burrice alheias.
Devemos dizer às crianças que as religiões são contra o progresso, contra o avanço da ciência, contra o divertimento, contra os prazeres da carne, contra o orgasmo, contra o sexo sem fins reprodutivos, contra o uso de preservativos nas relações sexuais, contra as festas pagãs, contra a riqueza obtida com o trabalho árduo, contra a música e a literatura de vanguarda, enfim, contra tudo que possa fazer a vida valer a pena ser vivida.
Devemos dizer às crianças que "verdades" mentirosas não podem ser ensinadas como sendo sagradas. Que nada existe de mais sagrado para o ser humano do que a liberdade de expressar seu pensamento honestamente. Que todo aquele que, em nome de um Deus, ou de uma religião qualquer, reprime a livre manifestação de pensamento, não passa de um carcereiro, com procuração "divina", que deve ser declarado inimigo da humanidade.
Devemos dizer às crianças que não vale a pena morrer por aqueles que ainda vão nascer. Que os inocentes não devem ser punidos pelos culpados. Que sacrificar a vida material por uma vida "espiritual" depois da morte – facto que nunca foi comprovado -- é uma enorme idiotice. Que os seres humanos não devem amar seus inimigos e odiar seus familiares, como a bíblia ensina. Que o amor por seres humanos é real e o amor por fantasmas que povoam os céus é a mais deslavada das mentiras.
Devemos dizer às crianças que precisamos ser bons e honestos, não por temor a deuses inventados, mas porque a bondade e a honestidade são os caminhos que nos levam à paz interior. Devemos dizer às crianças que não existe nenhuma revelação divina pela qual valha a pena renunciar à vida aqui na Terra.
